GETTING STRESS at a Tender age (GSAT), and that is exactly what GSAT is for many children. Many parents are stressed out by these exams and feel as if they are the ones sitting them. Naturally, parents want their children to do well, but in the process, some parents transmit too much anxiety and tension and may actually damage their children in the process.
It is also important to remember that the parent/s input can go a long way when the child is preparing for GSAT as the topics that are covered in grades 4 and 5 are less than a quarter of the GSAT syllabus. The children are then required to cram a lot into the remaining months that are left before the exam.
Beginning as early as grade 5 to cover some of the topics can alleviate some of the stress that is encountered in Grade 6. It also helps them to be more familiar with the subjects that are introduced at that level.
